DESCRIPTION

This MBR wastewater treatment plant serves an upscale neighborhood west of Austin. MMBR staff helped deliver the original 2011 facility, expanding capacity from 150,000 to 500,000 GPD while meeting some of the most stringent nutrient limits in Texas at the time. When the original membrane equipment began to decline, MMBR provided a Toray-based, backward-compatible upgrade using flexible flat-sheet membranes.

The replacement units increased membrane filtration area by 45%, required no ancillary equipment changes, and significantly improved plant performance. Working closely with onsite operators, MMBR supported design, procurement, logistics, programming, installation, and commissioning. The retrofit was completed in phases over about 10 days, including roughly 48 hours of membrane replacement work. The workflow was developed to minimize service disruptions.

As an experienced - and engagingly impartial and self-effacing - practitioner in the field of MBR technology, Dennis seems to know heaps more about the subject than most of the senior academics I’ve met over the course of the past 25 years.
