the challenges

Six Reasons Operators Start
A Membrane Replacement

Membranes are consumables with a long service life, not permanent equipment. Every plant reaches the point where cleaning stops buying back what it used to. The decision to replace is rarely a surprise. What catches operators out is the lead time, the price, and the assumption that only one part will fit.

01

End of life

Flux is falling off, transmembrane pressure keeps climbing, and cleaning does not bring it back. At that point it has stopped being a cleaning problem.

02

Cleaning frequency
CIP intervals keep getting shorter. Chemical cost and operator hours climb while each recovery buys less time than the one before it. Aggressive cleaning in cold conditions can make the fouling worse.

03

Clogging and ragging
Rags braid, solids mat, and channels pack out. Cleaning chemistry does not fix a mechanical problem, and repeated events shorten the life of the equipment.

04

Lead time pressure
OEM modules are commonly quoted in quarters rather than weeks, most of it shipped from overseas factories. A failure does not come with that kind of grace period attached.

05

The brand assumption
Operators are told only the original manufacturer’s module fits their frames. For flat plate and flat sheet systems, backward-compatible options are well established.

06

Capacity constraints
The community grew, the permit tightened, or the loading changed. Replacement is the one moment where added filtration area can be gained inside the existing basins.

Membrane Agnostic

We're not an OEM competitor.

There are many great MBR brands and products, and we’re not competing with major OEMs like Kubota or Veolia. We offer alternative solutions for customers looking to rapidly improve MBR plant performance, and if there’s no reason to change, we encourage customers to keep working with their OEM.

01

What Actually Differs
Pricing is typically comparable to OEM. What we offer is faster service, turnkey delivery, and improved performance, broader operating envelopes on the membrane technologies we provide.

02

When To Call Us
If the same parts are working, stick with them. If you want improved performance in a part-for-part exchange, or your OEM’s lead time doesn’t match your timeline, that’s when to call.

03

Vendor-Neutral Inventory
Compatible with Kubota, Toray, Ovivo, Cembrane, Enviroquip, Microdyn-Nadir, Veolia, and many others through global technology partners and in-house fabrication.
Planned replacement

Case Studies

We use the phrase precisely. Replacement happens at the cassette or module level, the unit that lifts out of the basin, and the unit that goes back in. It does not mean every plate, element or fiber inside that cassette interchanges with the original. What matters is that the replacement occupies the same space, connects the same way, and requires nothing else to change.

And where a true drop-in is not available, we say so before you buy. Not every combination is backward compatible, and a replacement that needs basin work is a different project with a different price. You should hear that from us at quote stage, not at installation.

SMALL PLANT - HOLLOW FIBER

8 hrs

ZEEWEED → SUPRATEC
End-of-life replacement of hollow fiber equipment with a backward-compatible drop-in from a different manufacturer.
MEDIUM PLANT - HURRICANE HELENE

16 hrs

BIO-CELL2 → L+
Two trains, eight hours per train. Same product family, same geometry, the cleanest like-for-like case in the portfolio.
LARGE PLANT

20 days

KUBOTA → TORAY
Four trains, four days each. Part-for-part at the cassette level, but it raised capacity and added reuse, which re-rates the plant.
