MBR Membrane Upgrade

The Pikeville wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) is a municipal facility in eastern Kentucky serving residential and light industrial flows under strict permit limits. As the installed membranes approached end of service life, M|MBR installed 56 new modules across four of the five reactors in about 12 days, coordinating closely with operations and the membrane manufacturer to minimize service interruptions. The actual time to install 14 units into each tank was about 30 hours (120 hours total) or two hours per membrane module. M|MBR supported logistics, inspection, installation, and full-load testing requirements. The modernized system now operates reliably at full capacity, with lower maintenance costs and proven performance even during exceptionally cold winter conditions.
